Blackrock is a well-to-do suburb on the south side of Dublin Bay, in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, about three kilometres north-west of Dún Laoghaire. It takes its name from the dark limestone rock found in what is now Blackrock Park, which stretches along the shore towards Booterstown. The village has its main street, two shopping centres and the DART station, and around it are the grounds of Blackrock College and many older houses and newer apartment blocks.
